Learning Goals and Objectives
Ratios and Proportional Relationships
- Analyze proportional relationships and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
The Number System
- Apply and extend previous understandings of operations with fractions to add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers.
Expressions and Equations
- Use properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions.
- Solve real-life and mathematical problems using numerical and algebraic expressions and equations.
- Draw, construct and describe geometrical figures and describe the relationships between them.
- Solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, and volume.
Statistics and Probability
- Use random sampling to draw inferences about a population.
- Draw informal comparative inferences about two populations.
- Investigate chance processes and develop, use, and evaluate probability models.
- Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
- Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.

- Materials: Spiral notebook, a section in a binder with loose leaf paper, ruler, pencils, chromebook, and a calculator.
- Classroom schedule:
- Monday- This will be a day to individually practice your math skills on Kahn Academy. I will also be meeting with students on Mondays to check progress and offer extra assistance.
- Tuesday –Thursday- these will be concept development days with introduction, application and practice of new math ideas.
- Friday-A short quiz to check your understanding of the weekly concepts will be given and then you will have time to check over your work from the week and organize it into your binder
- Homework- You will be assigned homework Monday – Thursday, so plan 30-45 minutes into your schedule to complete.

- YOU are responsible to conduct yourself in a manner that is conducive to learning. (BE POLITE,BE PREPARED, USE TIME WISELY)

- If you finish assignments early be prepared with extra work or reading materials. Sitting and visiting is not an option.
- YOU are responsible for making up work when you are absent.See me or a friend to get assignment.
- DISCIPLINE- If the need arises, the following discipline plan will be followed:
- Verbal warning.
- Student conference with teacher after class.
- Call home.
- Discipline referral to the office
- Parent conference
- Attendance Daily attendance is crucial to your success in this class. Classroom activities, whether graded or not, are critical to understanding the overall material studied.
- Policy- Due to the points you receive for participation in class students who miss 9 or more class meetings during the 9 week grading period will have their grade lowered one letter grade.
- School sanctioned absences (field trips, sports travel, etc…) will not be counted against you IF you check with me before the absences to get your work.
- Students with unusual circumstances such as extended illness or injury may appeal lowered grade or loss of credit by contacting me as soon as possible to get make up work.
- Tardiness- Any student who is not in class when the final bell rings must have a pass from the office or a teacher. Three unexcused tardies will result in a lunch detention.
