• Trout Lake School Families and Community,

I want to welcome students and staff back to the 2022-2023 school year and introduce myself to the Trout Lake School Community as the new part-time superintendent. I am very grateful for this opportunity to serve the students, staff, families, and the Trout Lake community. My pathway into public education was not the typical one that most educators take. I worked in the construction industry in the Puget Sound area for nearly 20 years and I was a business owner for most of those years. I always wanted to go into education, so years ago, I decided it was time to pursue that dream. It was challenging, but through the support of my wife and others, I earned my teaching degree in Secondary Career and Technical Education.

I have been involved in public education for 26 years and 24 of those years were spent with the White Salmon Valley School District. During my time with White Salmon Valley School District, I served in many different capacities, including High School CTE Teacher, CTE Director, District Technology Director, District Computer and Networking IT Support, Deputy Superintendent, and 12 years as Superintendent. I retired from the White Salmon School District at the end of the 2021 school year, but I quickly found that I really missed the work.

I was excited about applying for the part-time superintendent position in the Trout Lake School District and I feel very fortunate to have been offered the job. School districts across the state and nation have dealt with many challenges brought on by the pandemic. District staff, students, families, and communities have experienced so many disruptions and changes to the educational process. Trout Lake School has an outstanding reputation and I look forward to working with all involved to ensure our students, staff, and families feel supported as we redefine ourselves and move past this pandemic.

    Dr. Jerry Lewis, Superintendent
