Public Records Requests

In compliance with Washington State’s Public Records Act (RCW 42.56), Trout Lake School District provides full access to public records.

How to Submit a Request
All public records requests must be directed to our designated Public Records Officer:

  • The district will acknowledge all requests within five (5) business days, as required by law.

What counts as a public records request?
Any written request for school district records, regardless of whether it mentions the Public Records Act, is considered a public records request. This can include email, letters, or other written forms.

How soon will I get a response?
By law, the district must respond within five (5) business days. The initial response may:

  • Provide the records requested

  • Give an estimate of when records will be available

  • Ask for clarification if the request is unclear

  • Deny the request with an explanation of the legal reason

What if I send my request to the wrong person?
