Dear Mustang Families,

Outdoor School was a highlight of our week. Our students showed such courage and care—strengthening friendships, trying unfamiliar challenges, and supporting one another. These moments show the heart of who they are!

Thank you also for giving us time on Friday (9/12) for staff in-service. We used last year’s family and student surveys, student learning data (STAR and SBAC), and our Portrait of a Trout Lake Graduate (K–5, 6–8, 9–12) to develop six district-wide goals. On October 10, our staff will devote a full day to turning those goals into strategies and ways to measure progress. This is work that belongs to all of us, and I’ll continue to share updates as we move forward together.

This Week at School

ASB Officer & Class Meetings --  Wednesday, September 17

  • ASB Officer Meeting

  • Class Meetings (grades 6–12) begin at 2:35 PM

Open House & BBQ — Wed, Sept 17, 6:00–7:30 PM

  • Gather in the gym for introductions.

  • Stay for a BBQ with hotdogs, chips, and lemonade.

  • Destination Imagination info + sign-ups with Kira Fogarty and Jennifer Fuentes: library, 6:45–7:30 PM (drop in).

  • Title I Parent Information Meeting with Crystal Lanz, Special Programs Coordinator: 5:00–6:00 PM in the library.

  • PTO table:  Please stop by the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) table. Check out our past, present and future projects! Sign up for our emails and get involved with the PTO for this year!

Field Trips

  • K–2: Trout Lake Farm — Thursday, September 18

  • 5th Grade: Gifford Pinchot National Forest — Friday, September 19

Transportation & Safety

  • New afternoon bus routine: Route buses now line up one behind the other in the former handicap parking area next to the flagpole. Town bus remains first; Husum bus follows. Parent pick-up continues along the curb.

  • Please cross the lane to meet younger children, rather than calling them across traffic. This small change helps keep dismissal safe for everyone.

  • At home events, thank you for watching children’s use of playground equipment so it’s ready for students the next day.

Student Learning & Progress

  • Grade Check: September 17. Report cards for grades 5–12 will be mailed home. Families can check Skyward anytime for grades and missing work. For Family Access support, email Kristin at kr.schmid@tlschool.net.

  • Absences: Please call Jennifer or email je.keller@tlschool.net to excuse absences.

Upcoming Dates

School Picture Day --  Wednesday, October 1, beginning at 8:30 AM.

Online ordering information will be available soon.

ToothSavers Dental Visit --  Wednesday, October 15, beginning at 8:30 AM.

Parents may enroll online at myschooldentist.com

We are also seeking a part-time paraeducator to join our staff  (SY5-26 only with growth potential).  Please check our website for the job description and application. There is an opportunity to split Monday-Friday (9:15 AM-1:15 PM) between two people. Reach out directly to me if this interests you.

Thank you for staying connected and encouraging your children to fully engage in their school activities and learning. Our partnership with you is instrumental to our continued growth and success. I truly appreciate you.

Genuinely,

Wendy Beldin, Principal
