About Title I & Learning Assistance Program

TITLE I

Title I is a federally funded program designed to increase student achievement. This program enables schools to provide opportunities for children served to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to meet the state’s challenging standards.

Trout Lake School uses its funds to provide some classes with paraeducators, certificated teachers, and to supplement school supplies so more manipulatives are available to teach lessons in many different ways. The paraeducators in the classroom have been labeled highly qualified by the state of Washington.

Students are chosen for this program by the scores of their state test, teacher recommendation, and parental input. Our goal here at Trout Lake School is to bring all students up to grade level through intensive instruction.

The final strand in this process is parental and community involvement. Our school needs a strong partnership with the community to support the achievement of children served under Title I.

Learning Assistance Program

LAP is a state-funded program designed to enhance educational opportunities for students who are not yet meeting academic standards through supplemental academic and nonacademic services. Within Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), LAP services are targeted (tier 2) or intensive (tier 3) supports that are added to accelerate learning and remove barriers that prevent students from benefiting fully from universal instruction.
