Our Class: We currently have 19 third graders.

Arrival Time: Please do not drop students off before 7:45 AM, as there is no supervision before that time.

Breakfast: Free breakfast is served Monday-Thursday before school in the multi-purpose room.

Snack: Because our lunch starts at 12:30, we will take a mid-morning snack break each day. Please bring a healthy snack to enjoy at 9:35. If you need a napkin, spoon, etc., remember to pack it with you!

Water Bottles: You are welcome to bring a water bottle to class to keep at your desk so you can drink water (only!) during class time. Please remember to take your bottle home over the weekends for a wash.

Lunch: Lunch begins at 12:30 and is followed by recess.  I will send home a monthly lunch menu, but you can also pack a lunch. You may set up a lunch account by sending a check payable to Trout Lake School from which purchases will be deducted. If a student forgets to bring a lunch, a cheese sandwich will be provided.

Getting Home: If there is a change in your Go Home Plan, please let me (or the office) know by sending a note, calling, or emailing details by 12:00 noon.

Homework: Your MOST important homework in third grade is to read for 20 minutes each school night. We will keep a reading log in class, and you can earn coupons for responsibly completing your homework.

If class work is not finished, it may be sent home in your take home folder. Please complete and return any unfinished work the following school day.

Take Home Folder: Each third grader has a Take Home Folder that is to be carried home and returned to school every day. One side is labeled “Leave at Home” and the other “Complete and Return to School.” Please show your parents/guardians your Take Home Folder every night so they know what is happening at school.  Also, feel free to send notes to me using this folder.

PE Shoes: You need a pair of shoes just for PE. They do not have to be new, but they need to be clean on the bottom and have non-marking soles.

Bookmobile:  The Bookmobile will visit Trout Lake School every two weeks throughout the school year. Our bookmobile time is Wednesdays from 12:15 - 12:30. Remember to return your books on or before the next bookmobile day so you can check out new books.

Conferences: Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for fall and spring. I am open to meet with families before scheduled conference dates and welcome your input about your child. I am available to meet with you most days between 10:10-10:45, before, or after school. The school phone number is 395-2571.

Volunteers/Visitors: I welcome volunteers and visitors in the class – families are a very valuable resource!  If you are interested in lending a hand in our classrooms and/or completing projects at home, please let me know. If you have a story you’d like to share or a connection to what we are studying in class, please call me to arrange a date and time to come in. Please remember to sign in at the office each time you come to visit or volunteer.

If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions the fastest way to communicate with me is through e-mail at e.miller@tlschool.net.  You can also send a note to school with your child or schedule a conference. Please feel free to contact me at any time.

It’s going to be a great year!
